Wine TV and Jessica Altieri Visit Firriato WineryFirriato Winery was the latest stop on the 2015 Sip Some Sicily Tour from Wine Channel TV. Let us paint the pictures. You can take a nice walk up to the mountaintop Castle of Santa Caterina, visible from Firriato’s seaside vineyards on the island of Favignana, off Sicily. Or visit  Firriato’s other estate partway up Mount Etna. Yes, that Mount Etna.

Wine TV, winechanneltv.tv and host Jessica Altieri takes you on a Sip Some Sicily exclusive tour at Firriato Winery. Wine TV visited the centenary vineyard of Firriato Cavanera Estate on Etna for an exclusive interview with the Count Federico Lombardo Di Monte Iato.

The Firriato name comes from the rural material culture of western Sicily, where the term was used to indicate the area closeness to the main house. This area was where the most valuable crops were planted, starting with the vineyard. Firriato comes from the Italian word meaning :enclosed”, which somehow relates to the term “Clos” used in reference to French estates.

Firriato is located in the province of Trapani, a truly  picturesque and stunning wine region of Sicily, which has centuries of history of growing legendary vines. Salvatore Di Gaetano, had the passion and zeal to take advantage of all that Sicily had to offer and created world known wine brands such as Nero d’Avola, Perricone, Nerello Mascalese, Zibibbo, Grillo and Catarratto, Harmonium, Ribeca and Santagostino.

Cheers to the Firriato team for a truly one of a kind “Sicilian wine experience” that wine lovers around the world can share with a bottle of Firriato wine.
